Begin by making a magic ring. If you prefer, you can also make a small ring by chaining 4 stitches and joining the first chain with a slip stitch.
Step 1: Chain 3. This chain counts as your first double crochet (dc).
If you use stitch markers, place one in the third chain to help you identify the beginning stitch.
Step 2: Work 15 double crochets (dc) into the center of the ring.
You should now have:
- 1 beginning chain-3 (counts as 1 dc)
- 15 additional dc stitches
Step 3: Close the round by making a slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain-3.
Total stitches: 16 dc
Round 2 – Color A
This round creates small spaces between the stitches that will be used in the next round.
Step 1: Chain 4. This counts as 1 double crochet plus 1 chain space.
Place a stitch marker in the third chain if desired.
Step 2: Around the entire circle, work the following pattern:
