Cheese
Use white or cream yarn.
Round 1
Make 6 sc into a MR. [6]
Round 2
Inc in every stitch around. [12]
Round 3
Sc in next st, inc in next st. Repeat around. [18]
Round 4
Sc in next 2 sts, inc in next st. Repeat around. [24]
Rounds 5–8
Sc in every stitch around. [24]
At this point, place the safety eyes between Rounds 6 and 7, approximately 5 stitches apart.
Using black embroidery thread, stitch a small smile between the eyes.
Round 9
Sc in next 2 sts, dec. Repeat around. [18]
Round 10
Sc in next st, dec. Repeat around. [12]
If you want the cheese slightly firmer, add just a small amount of fiberfill or leftover yarn. Do not overstuff—the piece should remain soft and compact.
Round 11
Dec around. [6]
FO, leaving a tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches, pull tightly and secure.
Shape the cheese gently with your fingers.
Red Cheese Wrapper
Use red yarn.
The wrapper is worked as one flat piece and then folded around the cheese.
Row 1
Ch 13.
Starting in the second ch from hook, sc across. [12]
Row 2
Ch 1, turn. Sc across. [12]
Row 3
Ch 1, turn. Inc, sc in next 10 sts, inc. [14]
Rows 4–6
Ch 1, turn. Sc across. [14]
Row 7
Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc across until 2 sts remain, dec. [12]
Row 8
Ch 1, turn. Sc across. [12]
Do not fasten off yet.
Wrapper Edging
Ch 1 and work sc evenly around the entire outside edge of the wrapper.
Place 2 sc into each corner so that the fabric stays flat.
Join with a sl st to the first sc.
FO and weave in the ends.
Assembly
Place the finished cheese in the middle of the red crochet piece.
Bring the left and right sides of the wrapper upward and slightly toward the front of the cheese.
Fold the lower portion upward so that the red crochet surrounds roughly the bottom half of the cheese.
You can either:
Leave the wrapper completely removable, or
Add one or two small hidden stitches at the bottom to keep the cheese attached.
For the cute open-wrapper look, simply remove the cheese and spread the red sides outward.
